Clinical study on level of adiponectin in gestational diabetes mellitus

Objective:To study the difference of pregnancy adiponectin level between gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM) and normal glucose tolerance tests (NGT) patients.Methods:Serum adiponectin and body mass index (BMI) were measured in 32 pregnant women of normal glucose tolerance tests and 36 gestational diabetes mellitus at 24～28 weeks of gestation and perinatal period. During this period of time,all of the patients were followed up and GDM was treated with intervention therapy.Results:Serum adiponectin was significantly lower in GDM than in NGT (P0.01).Serum adiponectin was lower in women with keeping their blood sugar at inadequate level than in the else GDM patients (P 0.05).The level of serum adiponectin decreased during pregnancy both GDM and NGT.Conclusion:Lower adiponectin level of pregnancy might be associated with GDM.To control blood glucose effectually has active meaning.
