Abstract
Objective: To study the effect of electro-acupuncture on chronic spinal cord injury (SCI) of rats in this way of molecular mechanism. Methods: In this study, according to the chronic progressive compressive spinal cord injury model of rat, 60 wister rats were divided into 3 groups: control group, SCI group and contusion with electro-acupuncture treatment group, each group 20 cases respectively, then the HE stain, immunohistochemistry and TUNEL methods were used to investigate the expression of Bax and Bc1-2 in rats' spinal cord. At last, the positive cells were quantitatively analyzed by computer image analysis system. Results: The strong expression sequences of Bax protein were found in SCI group while the low expression of Bc1-2 protein in contusion with electro-acupuncture treatment group. Conclusions: The effect of electro-acupunture on chronic spinal cord injury may be realized by control the expression of Bax protein and Bc1-2 protein.
