Abstract

A novel extraction process of tanshinone from Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge by ultrasound wave was tested. The optimum extracting conditions of tanshinone were investigated by using orthogonal experimental design. The significance of these factors affecting tanshinone was in the following order: solvent amount>ethanol concentration>ultrasound time>soak time. Their optimal parameters were: solvent amount 30 mL, ethanol concentration 85%, ultrasound time 10 min, soak time 4h. Under this optimal condition, the extraction rate of tanshinone was 81.82%. Compared with conventional extraction, it was more effective with advantages of short extraction period, higher yield, lower temperature and saving solvent amount.
