Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of PCNA and the clinicobiological behavior in human pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Methods The expression of PCNA in 39 cases of human pancreatic adenocarcinoma and 8 cases of chronic pancreatitis were tested by immunohistochemistry of avidin-biotin comples. Results In the 39 cases of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, the PCNA LI was 27.54±16.42,but no positive expression was found in chonic pancreatitis. The PCNA labeling index with no relation to sex, age, tumor location, however, there were significant differences between PCNA LI and tumor size, histological grade, clinical stage, lymph node status. Conclusion The expression of PCNA is an important marker reflecting the biological behaviors and prognosis of pancreatic cacinoma, the higher PCNA LI suggests high maligance and poor prognosis.
