Abstract
Objective To evaluate the procedure and clinical effect of performing a dacryocystorhinostomy through a rhinoendoscope for treating chronic dacryocystitis. Methods Thirty-nine cases (42 eyes) with chronic dacryocystitis that had been treated by dacryocystorhinostomy using a rhinoendoscope were presented. Results During the follow-up period of 6 to 12 months,41 eyes healed well and both pyorrhea and epiphora had disappeared; 1 eye improved and both pyorrhea and epiphora had decreased. Conclusion This procedure has many advantages, including the ease of the procedure, minimal damage, significant clinical effectiveness, and absence of facial scars.
