REPORT ON BLACKFLIES IN NINGXIA HUI AUTONOMOUS REGION,CHINA (DIPTERA: SIMULIIDAE)

Abstract

The basic fauna and its geographical distribution of blackflies in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region(NHAR) were investigated.Method : Blackflies in immature stages were collected from seven different representative areas of NHAR with conventional methods,and were reared in the lab to produce adults.After the identification of the slide and needle-fixed specimens,a list of blackfly species from this area was given and discussied.Results : 13 species including 4 new ones from NHAR were reported.Conclusion : There is a rich diversity of blackflies to show a fauna character of paraearctic realm in NHAR.
