Abstract
Objective To study the preventive and therapeutic effects of Jieduruangan decoction on experimental hepatic fibrosis in rats as well as their relative mechanisms. Methods Hepatic fibrosis in rats was induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCL 4) and the relative herbs were given 2 weeks before (prevention group) or after model production (treatment group), respectively. The administration of the herbs lasted for 10 weeks, respectively.Liver hydroxyproline(Hyp), serum level of malondealde(MDA),superoxide dismutase(SOD),tumor necrosis factor α(TNF α) and transforming growth factor β 1(TGF β 1)were detected respectively. The hepatic histopathologic changes were observed by microscopy. Results The levels of Hyp,MDA, TNF α,TGF β 1 and hepatic fibrosis degrees of Jieduruangan decoction prevention and treatment group as well as colchicines group were lower than those of model group (P0.01),but the level of SOD was marked elevated(P0.01).The effect of Jieduruangan decoction was better than that of colchicines. Conclusion Jieduruangan decoction has definite effect on anti hepatic fibrosis, and the effect is better than that of colchicines treatment group.Jieduruangan decoction is very practical at clinic because of its less side effects. The possible mechanism is antiperoxidation of lipid, and to depress the activation of hepatic stellate cell.
