Abstract
Objective To investigate the distribution of a single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)-717A/G-within C reactive protein(CRP) promoter region in ethnic Han Chinese and the association with CRP level and coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods A total of 111 positive CHD patients and 101 negative controls were studied in this research. The target fragments were amplified by PCR.Then the-717A/G polymorphism was screened by RELP.At last, the association was studied by proper statistical analysis such as One-Way ANOVA and χ2 test. And multivariate logistic regression was applied to test whether this polymorphism is an independent risk factor for CHD.Results HDLC,hypertension, and CRP level in CHD patients were significantly different from those in controls. The frequencies of alleles in-717 A/G polymorphism were 86.1 %(A) and 13.9%(G).The frequencies of three genotypes were 2.36%(GG),27.83%(GA) and 69.81%(AA) respectively.The-717A/G polymorphism was not associated with plasma CRP concentration. The allele and genotype frequencies were not significantly different between patients and controls(P 0.05).And this polymorphism is not an independent risk factor for CHD.Conclusion-717 A/G polymorphism is not associated with CRP level and CHD.
