Efficacy of insulin glargine combined with acarbose in the treatment of newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes

Abstract
Objective To discuss the efficacy of insulin glargine combined with acarbose in newly-diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods Fifty-four newly-diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes received insulin glargine combined with acarbose for 12 weeks.After treatment,the fasting blood glucose(FBG),postprandial 2 hours blood glucose(P2hBG),hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) and the incidence rate of the hypoglycemia were compared.Results After treatment of 12 weeks,FBG,P2hBG and HbA1c were effectively controlled within acceptable levels in all patients.Meanwhile the incidence rate of the hypoglycemia was very lower.There were no obvious adverse reactions.Conclusion For the newly-diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes,insulin glargine combined with acarbose is a safe and effective scheme.
