Abstract
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect and safety of insulin glargine combined with acarbose on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods 116 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were randomly divided into two groups.58 patients in control group were treated with premixed insulin(Novolin 30R)and the other patients in observation group were treated with insulin glargine combined with acarbose, with a treatment course of 12 weeks for both groups. The plasma levels of fast blood glucose(FBG),blood glucose of 2 hours post-meal(2hBG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlc),body mass index(BMI),the time of blood glucose reaching the standard, incidence of hypoglycemia and daily dosage of insulin were detected before and after treatment. Results After 12 weeks of treatment, the FBG,2hBG and HbA1c of the two groups significantly improved than before treatment(P0.05);FBG,2hBG and HbA1c difference between the two groups were statistically significant(P0.05);insulin daily dosage, the incidence of hypoglycemia of the two groups were statistically significantly different(P0.05).Conclusion Insulin glargine combined with acarbose is proved to be a safe and effective therapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus with lower hypoglycemia incidence and insulin dosage, presenting a significant clinical effect.
