Abstract
A spectrophotometric method based on the charge-transfer reaction between azithromycin and alizarin redin aqueous ethanolic solution was established for the determination of azithromycin tablets. The composition ratio of thecomplex was 1∶2, and the apparent molar absorptivity was 1.23×104 L·mol-1·cm-1 at maximum absorption wavelengthof 538nm. The calibration curve was linear in the range of 10 - 60μg/ml. The results were comparable with those by HPLC.
