Abstract
Objective:To establish a method for rapid determination of azithromycin in dispersible tablets. Methods:Using visible spectrophotometry based on the charge transfer reaction, the content of azithromycin was determined with azithromycin as donor and alizarin red as acceptor in alcohol-water solution. Results:The apparent molar absorptivity of complex was 1.23×104 L·mol-1·cm-1 at 536 nm.Beer law was obeyed in the range of 10~60 mg·L-1 for azithromycin. The average recovery was 100.7%.Conclusion:The proposed method is stable, accurate, sensitive and rapid. It has been applied for the determination of azithromycin.
