Abstract

【Objective】 To explore the clinical effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) combined with percutaneous ethanol injection(PEI) in the treatment of primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).【Methods】 36 patients with primary HCC were randomly divided into A and B groups.Group A including 18 patients were treated with TACE,and after a week, they were treated with PEI.Group B including 18 patients were only treated with TACE.【Results】 The decrease of AFP and shrinkage of tumor mass in group A were 72.2%(13/18),61.1%(11/18),while those of group B were 38.8%(7/18),33.3%(6/18),respectively.The survival rates of 1 and 2 years in group A were 72.2%(13/18),38.8%(7/18),and those of group B were 50%(9/18),16.7%(3/19),respectively.There were significant differences between the two groups.P 0.05.【Conclusions】 The curative effect of TACE and PEI is superior to only TACE for 36 patients with primary HCC.
