Abstract
Objective:To study the practical significance of the combined application of the transcatheter hepatic artery chemoembolization (TACE) and the percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.Methods:From August 1999 to October 2001, 78 HCC patients were treated with interventional methods, among which TACE alone in group 1(41 cases),and combined TACE with PEI in group 2(37 cases). All patients were examined by CT and determined by AFP. The objective results were observed.Results:The CR+PR in group I was 35.3%, the rate of the decline of the AFP was 56.1% and 2~year survival was 50%,while respectively was 64.5% ,78.6% and 61.3% in group 2 (P0 05).Conclusion:It is certain that the combined application of TACE with PEI to treat HCC is much better than TACE alone.
