Abstract
Objective To investigate the curative effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) for the treatment of primary hepatocellular carcinoma.Methods Sixty-one cases with primary hepatocellular carcinoma were divided into group A and group B. In group A, 34 cases were treated with TACE, and 27 cases were treated with TACE and PEI in group B.Results The complete necrosis rate of tumor, the reduction rate of tumor, and one-year death rate were 26.5%, 61.8% and 35.3%, respectively in group A, and 92.6%, 92.6% and 3.7%, respectively in group B. There were significant statistical differences between the two groups (P value were 0.000, 0.005 and 0.004, respectively).Conclusion The curative effect of TACE combined with PEI shows better results than that of TACE alone.
