Abstract

Objective To study the expression of epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) in tumor tissue and investigate its value for the develop ment and prognosis of lung cancer. Method The expression of EGFR in 48 pulmonary tissues obtained through thoracic operation and bronchos copy were examined by S-p immunohistochemical technique. Results The positive rate of EGFR in the lung cancer cases was significantly higher th an that in non-malignant cases.The expression of EGFR in non-small cell lung can cer was significantly higher than that in small cell lung caner.There was no sig nificant difference in 1-year survival rate between the positive cases and the n egative cases of EGFR in lung cancer cases.Conclusion There is overexpression of EGFR in the lung cancer tissues.The expression of EGFR in non- small cell lung cancer was significantly higher than that in small cell lung can cer.EGFR expression can not be served as an independent tumor marker for lung ca ncer.
