Clinical Observation for Phacoemulsification Combined with Intraocular Lens Implantation with Diabetic Cataract

Abstract

Objective To discuss the safety and clinical effectiveness of phacoemulsification combined intraocular lens implantation in the treatment of diabetic cataract.Methods Total 48 patients(48 eyes)with diabetic cataract underwent the phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation through a 3mm scleral tunnel incision which was 1mm after limbus.All cases were followed up for one to three months.Results All operations were finished successfully with primary intraocular lens implantation in capsule.Postoperative visual acuity:there were 3 eyes(6.25%)ranged from 0.01 to 0.1,10 eyes(20.83%)ranged from 0.2 to 0.4,and 35 eyes(72.92%)reached 0.5 to 1.0.Complications included the anterior fibrinous membrane formation in 5 eyes(10.42%),corneal edema in 4 eyes(8.33%),posterior capsule opacification in 13 eyes(27.08%).Conclusion Phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation is a safe and effective clinical treatment for diabetic cataract.
