Abstract
From the perspective of cognition of the conceptual metaphor theory, this paper designed and carried out an empirical study for 116 non-English majors with an attempt to explore the effects on vocabulary acquisition in college English teaching. The finding is that teaching conceptual metaphor can be of great help for learners in terms of vocabulary memory and the extension of lexical meaning.
