Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression of p16 gene protein in lung cancer. Methods: With SP immunohistochemistry, tissue of 21 cases of lung benign diseases and 69 of lung cancer were stained by using the multiclonal antibody against the human p16 protein. Results: Expression of p16 gene protein was observed in 91.3% of normal tissues, while 39.1% of lung cancer tissues showed p16 gene protein expression (P0.05). The expression of p16 protein was significantly correlated with the pathologic type, clinical stage, and lymph node metastasis (P0.05). Conclusion: The low expression of p16 protein was related to the carcinogenesis and development of lung cancer.
