Abstract
Objective To investigate the significance of p16 expression and the relationship between the expression of p16 and the proliferation.Method The expressions of p16 and PCNA were detected in 80 nsclc samples and 40 lung benign lesion tissues as control by immunohistochemistry(S-P).Results (1)The expression level of p16 gene was found to be significantly lower in NSCLC tissues than in benign lesion tissues(P0.01);(2)The expression level of p16 gene was closely related to histological classification,cancer cell differentiation,P-TNM stages and lymph node involvement in lung cancer patients(P0.05);(3)The expression level of PCNA was found to be significantly higher in NSCLC tissues than in benign lesion tissues(P0.01);(4)The reduction of p16 gene expression might be related with the over-proliferation of lung cancer cell(P0.01).Conclusion The reduction of p16 gene expression is one of the molecular basis of the over-proliferation in NSCLC cell;p16 gene may be related to the pathogenesis and development of lung cancer.
