Incidence of Lung Cancer in Zhongshan City,Guangdong Province from 1975 to 1999

Objective To explore the incidence state of lung cancer in Zhongshan city from 1975 to 1999,and to provide information on its prevention and treatment.Methods Incidence data of lung cancer from Zhongshan Cancer Registry between 1975 and 1999 were collected.The number of cases,crude incidence rate,China standardized and world standardized incidence rates were calculated and analysed.Results There was an obviously increasing trend of lung cancer incidence rate in Zhongshan from 1975 to 1999.The crude incidence rate,China standardized and world standardized incidence rates of lung cancer in Zhongshan from 1990 to 1999 were 16 49/10 5,14 89/10 5 and 19 73/10 5 respectively.Conclusion Although the incidence level of lung cancer in Zhongshan from 1975 to 1999 was moderate lower than that of worldwide and nationwide,its incidence rate increased quickly.The causes should be studied further to reduce its harm.
