The expression of p16 in proliferative endometrium and endometrial carcinoma

Abstract
Objective To study the role of p16 in the genesis and development of endometrial carcinoma. Methods The expression of p16 was examined by immunohistochemistry in specimens of 50 endometria carcinoma,10 proliferative phase of endometrium, 10 simple hyperplasia,10 complex hyperplasia and 10 atypical hyperplasia. Results The positive-expression of p16 is associated with histologic grade and lymph node metastasis. The positive expression rate of p16 in proliferative phase of endometrium is significantly higher than that in endometrial carcinoma (P0.05) . Conclusion The expression of p16 may play an important role in the genesis, development and prognosis of endometrial carcinoma.
