Observation of Antipsychotics Combined with Sertraline in Treatment of Chronic Schizophrenia

Abstract

Objective: To explore the efficacy of antipsychotics combined with sertraline in the treatment of chronic schizophrenia with negative symptoms.Method: Sixty-eight cases of chronic schizophrenia mainly with negative symptoms were randomly divided into combined groups(treated with antipsychotics and sertraline) and control group(treated with placebo).The course of treatment was twelve weeks.The efficiency and side effects were evaluated by positive and negative symptoms scale(PANSS) and treatment emergent symptoms scale(TESS) before and after treatments for 4,8,12 weeks.Result: After 8 weeks treatment,the total scores and negative symptoms scores of PANSS significantly decreased in the combined group than before treatment.Conclusion: Antipsychotics combined with sertraline could improve the negative symptoms of chronic schizophrenia.Two groups have no significant differences in side effeets.
