Cost-effectiveness Analysis of Gatifloxacin and Levofloxacin in the Treatment of Urinary System Infection

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To compare the cost-effectiveness between gatifloxacin and levofloxacin in the treatment of patients with infection in urinary system.METHODS:Principle of pharmacoeconomics was adopted to analyze cost-effectiveness of the2treatment schemes.RESULTS:The effective rates of gatifloxacin group and levofloxacin group in the treatˉment urinary system infection were93.3%and80.0%(P0.05)respectively;the incidence rate of adverse reactions were6.7%and10.0%(P0.05);the cost-effectiveness ratio(C/E)were9.48and9.16respectively.The cost for every one unit increment of effectiveness for gatifloxacin group was11.43yuan more than that of the levofloxacin group.CONCLUSION:Taking everything into consideration,levofloxacin was better than gatifloxacin in the treatment of urinary system infection.
