Abstract
Objective To determine whether dynamic-enhanced MR imaging is superior to standard MR imaging after contrast administration for detecting pituitary microadenoma. Methods 50 cases of clinically suspected microadenoma were examined with dynamic-enhanced MR imaging, and standard imaging with unenhanced and contrast-enhanced spin-echo sequences were obtained. The threesequences were evaluated retrospectively and graded for gland-lesion contrast conspicuity, lesion, homogeneity, and delineation of lesion margin. Results The positive rate of microadenoma was 94% for dynamic-enhanced MRI group and 72% for routinely contrast-enhanced group. Conclusion Dynamic-enhanced MRI is the best method for the diagnosis of pituitary microadenoma.
