Abstract

Objective:To study MRI features and its diagnostic value of pituitary microadenoma. Methods:MRI data of 48 cases of pituitary microadenoma proved by clinical and pituitary functional examination were analyzed retrospectively. Results:All 48 cases of pituitary microadenoma had single focus occorred at pituitarium anterias area, and 33 were round and 15 were ovale, with hypointensity or isointensity signal on T1WI,slight hypointensity signal on T2WI.Slight enhancement was observed in 19,and middle enhancement in 29.Displacement of hypophyseal stalk happened in 27,sella turcica depression in 23,pituitary gland superior margin projection in 5.Conclusion:MRI is very important for correct diagnosis of intrasellar pituitary microadenoma,so as to study MRI finding features of position, quantity, shape, size, and signal change before and after enhancement of intrasellar foci, with thin section, axial, coronal, sagittal slices and multiple parameter sequence and contrast enhancement, and its combination with clinical symptoms and endocrine functional examination can make prompt and accurate diagnosis.
