Abstract

Objective To evaluate low-strength MRI effect and improve the accuracy in diagnosing pituitary microadenoma. Methods A retrospective analysis was made to the data of 57 cases with pituitary microadenoma confirmed by clinical endocrinal examination and pathologic proof from operation. Results Out of the 57 cases,51 cases showed local low signal in the Pituitary gland in TIWI;34 cases had central protrusion;the height of Pituitary gland over 8 mm was found in 34 cases;31 cases had the demonstration of infundibulum tilt;50 cases showed out local low signal in contrast enhanced MRI.Conclusions MRI can play an important role in diagnosing pituitary microadenoma and can provide the guidance for treatment while the diagnosis should be made in combination with clinical information and endocrinal examination.
