Study on efficacy of laparoscopic treatment of large ovarian cysts

Objective:To compare the effects and the costs of laparoscopy and laparotomy in the operative treatment of large ovarian cysts.Methods:A total of 60 cases of large ovarian cyst from March,2006 to Dec,2009 were reviewed.They were divided into two groups:laparoscopy group and laparotomy group.Clinical curative effects were analyzed.Results:The average duration of operation had no difference between the two groups (P 0.05).The mean blood loss,the recovery time including breaking wind's time and defecating time,the time of extubating urinary canal,the time of antibiotics use,and postoperative and total hospital stay time in laparoscopy group were significantly shorter than those in laparotomy group,there were no statistical significance (P 0.05).Conclusion:Laparoscopy can be applied in the operative treatment of large ovarian cysts on the well chosen patients,it has the advantages of less surgical trauma and quicker recovery.Laparoscopy is a better choice for large ovarian cysts.
