Abstract

【Objective】To compare the effects and the cost of laparoscopy with those of laparotomy on ovarian cyst.【Methods】A total of 110 cases of ovarian cyst from Jan.2000 to Dec.2007 were reviewed. They were divided into two groups: laparoscopy group and laparotomy group.Clinical and cost measures were analyzed.【Results】The average duration of operation has no difference between the two groups. The mean blood loss, the time of extubating urinary canal, the recovery time including breaking wind's time and post operative hospital stay time in laparoscopy group were significantly shorter than those in laparotomy group(P0.05).The operative cost, anaesthetic cost and hospitalization cost in laparoscopy group were significantly more in laparoscopy group(P0.05).【Conclusion】Laparoscopy is a better choice for ovarian cyst than laparotomy in intraoperative bleeding and recovery time.
