Abstract
Sustainable development status of Bijie test area was analyzed by ecological footprint method to know the utilization of natural resources in Bijie test area and estimate the state of sustainable development in Bijie test area. The results showed that the per-capita ecological footprint,per-capita ecological capacity,per-capita ecological deficit and ecological footprint intensity index of Bijie test area in 2008 were 2.6006hm2,0.7532hm2,1.8474hm2 and 3.4529,respectively.Ecological footprint diversity indexes based on ecological footprint and ecological capacity for Bijie test area were respectively 0.8063 and 0.6947.Social development indexes based on ecological footprint and ecological capacity for the study area were 2.0969 and 0.5232 respectively.Ecological footprint for per ten thousand Yuan GDP was 4.5142hm2.The findings indicated that the production and living intensity of Bijie test area had put it under great pressure, the ecological and socio-economic systems were under ecological overshot and deficit, meaning that current development strategies in the area are unsustainable.Bijie test area was still at unsustainable development level on the basis of the rank of sustainable development in China. Therefore, some sustainable countermeasures were put forward according to analytic reasons of unsustainable development.
