Discussion on Application of the Ecological Footprint Model in Sustainability Development of Bijie Prefecture

The ecological footprint model is a new method for quantitatively evaluating the sustainable development.The ecological footprint of Bijie prefecture was calculated and analyzed by the ecological footprint model in 2004.The results show that the ecological footprint in the prefecture lower than its ecological capacity,but the ecological footprint of biological resources is higher than its ecological capacity.The development and utilization of biological productive soil is excess,but the development and utilization of abundant energy resource is insufficient.The relative evaluation system is built by introducing the concept of productive ecological footprint index and the result of evaluating the sustainable development by the relative evaluation system is surplus and unsustainable,which accords with the reality in Bijie prefecture.
