Abstract

Aim To investigate the effects of polysaccharides from Yu-Ping-Feng powder(YPF-P)on immunological liver injury in mice induced by BCG plus LPS.Methods LPS was injected via the tail vein into mice pretreated with BCG.The ALT and AST levels in serum and MDA,SOD,NO activites in liver homogenate were tested respectively and dimensions of hepatic damage in the histopathology were observed.TNF-α expression in liver was observed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) assay. Results YPF-P was found to decrease the serum transaminase activities significantly, meanwhile to decrease MDA and NO content and enhance the level of SOD in liver homogenate and inhibit TNF-α production. Conclusion YPF-P shows significant protective action on immunological liver injury in mice.
