Abstract
Objective To study the role of tubular epithelial-myofibroblast transdifferentiation in pathogenesis of renal interstitial fibrosis.Methods Immunohistochemistry staining was used to investigate the pathological change of kidney and the expression of α-smooth muscular actin(α-SMA) and transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1) in renal tissue of rats with unilateral urethral obstruction (UUO).Results The levels of expression of α-SMA and TGF-β1 on the 14th day and 28th day in kidney of UUO were significantly higher than that of normal rats(P0.05).Conclusion α-SMA may be used as a marker of the tubular epithelial-myofibroblast transdifferentitiation;TGF-β1 may play an important role in pathogenesis of renal interstitial fibrosis.
