Abstract

Some conditions of electrochemical polishing and coloring of stainless steel surface were studied using orthogonal test and single factor test.At about 80 ℃,anodic polishing was done with 0.60 A/dm2 current density for around 10 min in the solution made of 14 g CrO3,30 ml C3H8O3,90 ml H3PO4,60 ml H2SO4 and 20 ml H2O,and then the brightness of stainless steel pieces reached the first grade. At the temperatures between 55 and 70 ℃,the coloring procedure was carried out with about 0.60 A/dm2 current density for 3 min in the electrolyte solution composed of 21 g CrO3,60 ml H2SO4 and 100 ml H2O,and then the golden film was formed on stainless steel pieces. The color film is beautiful and uniform, the binding force with the substrate is fine, the resistance to abrasion, corrosion and high temperature oxidation are good. The advantages of the process are simple, manageable, efficient, repetitive, etc.
