Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To conduct a randomized survey on the outpatient prescriptions in our hospital in 2008 so as to obtain the basic information of the outpatient drug utilization. METHODS: The sampled prescriptions were checked one by one, with irrational prescriptions analyzed statistically. RESULTS: 402 (2. 76% ) prescriptions were irrational characterized by nonconformity between drug use and clinical diagnosis, improper dosage or usage, interactions of the drugs with potential clinical significance and incompatibility. CONCLUSION: Non - rational use of drugs can still be seen in outpatient prescriptions in our hospital. It is advisable to intensify the practice of Prescription Management Methodand strengthen supervision and inspection on prescriptions so as to improve the quality of prescriptions.
