Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of three-dimensional transvaginal ultrasound(3D-TVS)in diagnosing endometrial polyps by regarding hysteroscope and biopsy as the gold standard for diagnosis. Methods Two-dimensional transvaginal sonography(2D-TVS)and 3D-TVS were performed on 96 married woman clinical suspected endometrial polyps. The diagnosis were compared with the results of pathology and hysteroscopy. Results The result of pathological diagnosis was as follow:86 cases were endometrial polyps, including multiple polyps 53 cases, sporadic polyps 33 cases.3D-TVS on multiple polyps was significantly higher than the 2D-TVS.Three-dimensional power doppler blood flow on polyp detection was significantly higher than the two-dimensional power Doppler ultrasound. Conclusion 3D-TVS can demonstrate the intrauterine diseases clearly with stereo-type visualization useful for detecting the locations of the lesions, and may have potential clinical value for endometrial polyps.
