Abstract
Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of CD44v6 and E-cadherin(E-cad) in squamous cervical carcinoma. Methods Twenty-one cases of normal cervical tissue,63 cases of squamous cervical carcinoma without lymph node metastasis,23 cases of squamous cervical carcinoma with lymph node metastasis were detected for the mRNA and protein expression of CD44v6 and E-cad by means of RT-PCR and immunohistochemical method. Results CD44v6 was negatively expressed in normal cervical epithelium, but the expression of CD44v6 went up in squamous cervical carcinoma, transepithelial carcinoma of cervix uteri-invasive carcinoma of cervix uteri.CD44v6 had positive correlation with clinical staging and histological grading of the carcinoma. The positive rate of CD44v6 in people with lymph node metastasis was higher than that in those without lymph node metastasis. Conclusion The positive expression of CD44v6 has close relationship with lymph node metastasis. Expression of CD44v6 is important for evaluating the prognosis of cervical cancer.
