Abstract
Objective To investigate the expressions of PTEN and FHIT proteins in gastric cancer. Methods The expressions of PTEN and FHIT proteins were detected in 52 specimens of gastric cancer and 30 samples of the normal gastric mueosa using immunohistchemistry. Results The expression rates of PTEN and FHIT proteins were significantly lower in the tumor tissue than in the normal tissue (P0.05). PTEN expression was closely associated with lymph node metastasis and the degree of tumor differentiation (P0.05); FHIT expression was related with the degree of tumor differentiation (P0.05). Conclusions The low expressions of PTEN and FHIT proteins may be involved in the genesis and development of gastric cancer.
