Abstract

This paper deals with six species of Apanteles Forster from China. Among them, two species are described as new to science and four species are recorded for the first time. All type specimens are deposited in the Hunan Agricultural College.Apanteles phragmataeciae You et Zhou sp. nov. (figs. 1-3)This species belongs to the thompsoni-group (Papp, 1976), and is colsely related to the-Apameles ihompsoni Lyle, but differs from the latter in that the antenna is longer than the combined length of head, thorax, and 1st segment of abdomen; 2nd section of discoidal vein of fore wing is about 2 times longer than 1st one; hind tibial spurs equal in length, less than half the length of the basal joint of the hind tarsus; the disc of 2nd tergite smooth, with longitudinal striation within its sulci.Male: Similar to female in many respects except for sexual differences.Length: (?) 2.2-2.3 mm, (?) 2.0 mm.Host: Gregarious parasites of Phragmataecia castaneae (Hubner); cocoons white, found in-large group covered with white fluff and inside the reed or amur silvergrass stem.Type: Holotype (?), allotype (?), paratypes 17 (?) 4 0V, Nanxian, Hunan Province, V. 30_ 1983, collected by Wang Zong-dian Yang Zhen-xiu.Apanteles chiloniponellae You et Wang sp. nov. (figs. 4-6)This species belongs to the glomeratus-groups (Nixon, 1965), and is similar to Apanteles-ferrugineus Marshall, but it is different from the latter by: Ocelli in low triangle; propodeon without median longitudinal ridge; inner spur of hind tibia about 1/4 the length of the basal joint of the hind tarsus; ovipositor sheath almost conceal in hypopygium. Further more, this species differs from A. ferrugineus Marshall in the morphological characters of 1st and 2nd-tergites of abdomen.Male: Much darker than female.Length: (?) 2.4 mm.Host: Chilo niponella (Thunberg).Type: Holotype (?), allotype (?), paratypes 16 (?), 1(?), Hanshou, Hunan Province, Ⅳ. 25.. 1983, collected by Wang Zong-dian. paratypes 32 (?), 10 (?), Shishou, Hubei Province, Ⅵ- VIII, 1987, collected by Xu Guan-jun Ceng Xian-shun. Apanteles pieridis (Bouche), New Record Host: Colias sp.Distribution: Shandong: Jinan, Ⅶ. 17. 1982. Apanteles corbetti Wilkinson, New Record Distribution: Guangxi: Beiliu, Ⅴ. 8. 1980. Apanteles papilionis Viereck, New Record Host: Papilio sp.Distribution: Yunnan: Menhai, Ⅹ. 9. 1981. Projects Supported by the Science Fund of the Academia Sinica.
