Abstract
This article studies the function of image schema in the interaction between metaphor and metonymy.Mainly explores the function of container schema,part/whole schema,excess schema in metonymy.It shows the two basic functions of image schema: constructing a relationship between source and target domain in metonymy;providing an axiology value in language expression.Finally,it discusses the universality of image schema in the conceptual interaction between metaphor and metonymy.
