Study on expressions of survivin and p53 in epithelial ovarian cancer

Objective To explore the expression of survivin and p53 in epithelial ovarian cancer and their clinical significances.Methods Expression intensity of survivin and p53 were detected by immunohistochemistry in the tissues of 46 cases with epithelial ovarian cancer,the relationship between clinical and pathological characteristics with survivin and p53 expressions were analysed.The 44 cases with benign epithelial ovarian tumor were taken as controlled group.Results 1) The positive expression rate of survivin was 11.4% in benign epithelial ovarian tumer and 88.6% in epithelial ovarian cancer respectively,there was statistical difference between two groups(P0.01).There was a relationship between expressive intention of survivin and differentiation of cancer cell and lymph node metastasis in epithelial ovarian cancer.The survivin expression was higher in lower differentiation and lymph node positive than that in higher differentiation and no lymph node metastasis.2) The positive expression rate of p53 was 11.4% in benign epithelial ovarian tumer and 78.3% in epithelial ovarian cancer respectively.There was statistical difference between two groups(P0.01).There was a relationship between expressive intention of p53 and clinical stage and lymph node transference in epithelial ovarian cancer.The expression was higher in late clinical stage and lymph node positive than that in early stage and lymph node negative;3) There was a positive relationship between expression of survivin and p53 in epithelial ovarian cancer.Conclusion Survivin and p53 are high expression in epithelial ovarian cancer,which predict that the tumor have a high perniciousness level and poor prognosis.
