Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of atorvastatin on endothelium-dependent dilatation of patients with hypertension grade 2 and normal lipid and to verify the hypothesis that whether atorvastatin has other functions besides lipid-lowering function. Methods 116 patients with hypertension grade 2 and normal lipid were randomly divided into atorvastatin treatment group(n=58) and control group(n=58).The control group was given conventional treatment. The atorvastatin treatment group was given atorvastatin,10 mg,qd,on the basis of conventional treatment. The treatment of the groups lasted for 8 weeks.Brachial artery flow mediated dilation(FMD) and endothelium independent dilatation(EID) were detected by ultrosonography. The changes before and after the treatment were compared. Results The endothelial function of the atorvastatin treatment group was improved significantly than that of the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Atorvastatin can improve endothelial function of patients with hypertension with normal lipid besides lowering lipid.
