Abstract

Objective:To determine and monitor the effect of asphyxia on the blood glucose of the newborns.Methods:Measure the peripheral blood glucose of 76 asphyxial newborns within 1 hour after birth,and compare with that of the normal newborns,and disscuss the effect of asphyxia on the blood glucose of the newborns.Results:Blood glucose disturbance rate 1 hour after birth in the asphyxia group is higher than that of control(χ2=15.134,P0.05),and the blood glucose level in asphyxia group is also higher(5.09±3.35mmol/L VS 3.82±1.31mmol/L,t=2.964,P0.05).compared with mild asphyxia group,the blood glucose disturbance rate 1 hour after birth is higher in severe asphyxia group(χ2=8.525,P0.05),and the blood glucose in severe asphyxia group is more than that of mild asphyxia group(6.15±4.33mmol/L VS 4.37±2.24mmol/L,t=-2.343,P0.05).the blood glucose disturbance of most asphyxia newborns could be corrected by treatment during the first 24 hours.Conclusions:neonatal blood glucose disturbance could be aggravated by asphyxia,We should monitor the blood glucose of asphyxia newborns and take measure to make it be normal as earlier as possible.
