Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of caveolin-1 and PCNA in gliomas and to explore the correlation between the two factors and the malignant degree of tumor as well as patients'prognosis. Methods The SP immunohistochemistry technique was used to detect the expression of caveolin-1 and PCNA in 60 cases of gliomas tissues and 8 cases of normal brain tissues(control group). Results The expression of caveolin-1 was decreased with the increase of pathological grade of gliomas. There were significant differences in the expression of caveolin-1among normal brain tissue,low-grade gliomas and high-grade gliomas(P0.05).The expression of PCNA was increased with the increase of pathological grade of gliomas. There were significant differences in the expression of PCNA among normal brain tissue,low-grade gliomas and high-grade gliomas(P0.05).The expression of PCNA was negatively related with the expression of caveolin-1.Conclusion The expression of caveolin-1 has inhibition effect on the cell proliferation of gliomas, while the expression of PCNA is related with tumor histodifferentiation, malignant grade and patients' prognosis, and Caveolin-1 is an important factor to affect the pathogenesis and development of gliomas.
