Observation on the efficacy of root canal therapy combined with fistula curettage for treatment of chronic fistula periapical periodontitis

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of root canal therapy combined with fistula curettage in the treatment of chronic sinus periapical periodontitis.Methods 148 patients with chronic fistula type periapical periodontitis treated in the Department of Stomatology from 2010 to April 2012 were randomly divided into experimental group and control group.The traditional root canal therapy was performed in the control group,while the root canal therapy combined with fistula curettage was used in the experimental group.The fistula healing time and 2 years postoperative effect were compared between the two groups.Results The efficacy of root canal therapy combined of fistula curettage in the experimental group was obviously higher than that of the traditional root canal therapy in the control group(p0.05).Conclusion The root canal therapy combined with fistula curettage has significant curative effect in the treatment of chronic sinus periapical periodontitis,so it is worth popularizing.
