Clinical research of preventing and treatment postmenopausal infection of urogenital system by Xianlinggubao capsules combined with Baofukang suppository

Objective:To research the clinical efficiency and feasibility of preventing and treatment postmenopausal infection of urogenital system by Xianlinggubao capsules combined with Baofukang suppository.Methods:From September 2005 to June 2007,66 cases of patients with postmenopausal genitourinary tract infections were divided randomly into 3 groups:observation group(group A,22 cases),positive control group(group B,22 cases) and blank control group(group C,22 cases).The patients in group A took Xianlinggubao capsules orally and used Baofukang suppository in vagina,the patients in group B took Nilestriol tablet orally and used Baofukang suppository in vagina and group C used Baofukang suppository in vagina only.All patients of 3 groups took effective antibiotics according to drug sensitivity test.All patients were followed up 6 months.During this period,the infection recurrence,adverse drug reaction and patient compliance were observed;the serum estradiol(E2) level,vaginal exfoliate cell maturation index(MI),vagina health score,cervical exfoliated cells TBS classification was monitored.Results:The serum E2 of group A was elevated to the level of early follicular phase and present lower rate of urogenital system infection,less adverse drug reaction and better compliance.Conclusion:Xianlinggubao capsules combined with Baofukang suppository can effectively prevent postmenopausal recurrent infection of urogenital system.It has a same efficacy as hormone replacement therapy(HRT),but with less side effect,and has good feasibility.
