Abstract
Objective To evaluate the relationship between lipoprotein(a) [LP(a)] level and coronary heart disease (CHD) in Kazakhstan patients. Methods We measured plasma LP(a) levels in 40 patients with CHD (at least one vessel narrowing≥50% by angiography) and 40 healthy patients as control. Results LP(a) level in CHD group was significantly higher than that of control group[(338.7±179.6)mg/L vs. (219.8±126.8)mg/L, P0.05]. There was a positive correlation between LP(a) level and lesion severity in CHD patients(r=0.487,P0.05). Conclusions Kazakhstan CHD patients have a higher LP(a) levels.
