Abstract

The “scramble between Jinzhou and Yangzhou” was not only the result from the politics of big families but also from Eastern Jin carrying out the intermediate zone strategy in order go defend its state. From Song of Liu’s Kingdom, Southen dynasties began sending princes to garrison Jinzhou, to restrain and to cut apart Jinzhou in order to weaken Jinzhou, meanwhile, they had to strengthen Yongzhou so that it was fit for the new intermediate zone strategy. With the solution of the problem of the scramble between Jinzhou and Yangzhou, it brought new problem of the scramble between Yangzhou and Jinzhou or Yongzhou and Yangzhou. The situation showed the relation between central and local authority to some extent, depended on the military and political situation of the intermediate zone.
