The Strategic Position of Shouchun( 寿春) in Eastern Jin and the Southern Dynasties

Shouchun( 寿春) that is of significant strategic position and military value is a hot spot for which the regimes of Northern minority and Han people struggled in Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties. Shouchun is a land and water transportation hub and possessed natural environment for defense and had a wealth of products,and thus got much attention by both armies. From Sui and Tang Dynasties,the Grand Canal was dug and put into use,therefore,the western part of Huainan where Shouchun was located began to receive less attention.
