Abstract

The two refugee uprisings in Jinzhou and Xiangyang prefectures in the middle of the Ming Dynasty disturbed the social order in Sichuan,Hubei,Shanxi,and Henan.The insurrectionary army led by Shi Long fought successively in the Three Gorges area.They attacked and occupied the county towns of Wushan and Dachang,killed Wang Zhen,the vice prefect of Kuizhou,and achieved a brilliant military victory.The Ming dynasty sent high-ranking officials to pacify and control the refugees.The set-up of Yunyang prefecture improved the management system of the regional society,and the development of the mountain area’s economy promoted the harmonious development of the regional society.
